I wasn't sure how this would be any different from a regular scoreboard, but the design of it really makes a difference. With a regular scoreboard, the scorer presses the paper into the grove, but can easily veer of course, and the lines aren't as straight or deep, especially with thicker paper. With this board design, the scorer (score knife) fits/"locks" the paper onto a track (not blade), and the track ensures a deeper and more defined score. Essentially, the track does most of the scoring.
